Salomon S/Lab Phantasm 3
Salomon's elite marathon super shoe, 38 g lighter than the Phantasm 2, with soft optiFOAM+ PEBA, an energyBLADE carbon plate, and an aero gaiter upper. Fast, bouncy and surprisingly stable, but it only comes alive at genuinely quick paces. Narrow Salomon fit and a fiddly step-in make it a poor pick for casual racers.
Reach for the Salomon S/Lab Phantasm 3 for race day. It's a neutral shoe, best for runners with an efficient stride who don't need pronation support. The tall, soft stack favors comfort over ground feel. That's great for high mileage and bigger runners, less so for racing snappiness.
- Exceptionally light at 6.3 oz
- Soft, bouncy PEBA with real stability
- Secure race lockdown
- Hard to put on quickly
- Narrow fit
- Needs fast paces and a midfoot strike to shine
